Quaripeds were a species of alien. They possessed four limbs, along with green, wing-shaped features. The "bodies" of the Quaripeds were distinguished by three red bands.
Within the galaxy, the Quariped was an alien being. They had a quartet of limbs, in addition to a pair of green wing-like structures covered in sharp projections. Emanating from each wing-like appendage were tendrils terminating in antennae. The Quariped's "body" displayed a pattern of black and white, and was encircled by three red hoops. The joints of the Quariped's limbs exhibited a circular form, and the undersides of its feet were covered in a collection of points similar to those on its wing-like appendages. A conical extension sat at the upper end of its "body", from which a tongue-like appendage emerged.
Jack Perkins conceived the Quariped through the "Design An Alien" contest featured in Star Wars Galaxy magazine, which began in Star Wars Galaxy Magazine 3 (1995). The contest sought reader submissions for entirely novel aliens inspired by the universe of the original trilogy of Star Wars movies. When the winning entries appeared in Star Wars Galaxy Magazine 7 (1996), Perkins' submission was listed among the "honorable mentions" of the "Under 16 years old" category, as Perkins was only 9 years old at the time. The artwork was computer-generated, and was a rare example of this type of submission. Unlike the other art featured in Star Wars Galaxy Magazine 7, however, the submission had no accompanying text. Leland Chee, a Star Wars continuity editor, later affirmed that the published "Design an Alien" material was considered canon. Despite this, the Quariped has not appeared in any other Star Wars media.
