Quip Fargil

Quip Fargil, who would later be known as Vec Minim, was both a Rebel operative and a skilled pilot. Notably, he was the individual who gave the Millennium Falcon its iconic name.

Biography

Fargil spent a considerable amount of his life on the planet of Tuerto, where he became known for unauthorized vehicle usage. It was on Tuerto that he encountered Zenn Bien, a Sullustan ship thief, who imparted much of her knowledge to him. On a couple of occasions, Fargil hired Bien to steal starships, which he then proceeded to resell for profit.

At some point in his life, he was drafted into the Rebel Alliance by a Verpine known as Luufkin, alongside an Imperial agent working undercover. In 10 BBY, aided by Luufkin, Bien, and the Imperial double agent, he successfully stole the freighter Second Chance from the Imperial impound facility located at Nilash III. Fargil then piloted the freighter for various Alliance missions, renaming it to the Millennium Falcon.

In 9 BBY, Fargil volunteered for a dangerous mission: transporting a baradium fission device to the Imperial shipyards situated at Bilbringi. Utilizing the Falcon's unmatched speed capabilities, Fargil intended to fly the vessel directly into the shipyards and detonate the explosive payload.

However, despite his willingness to sacrifice his own life for the sake of the Rebel cause, Fargil found himself unable to bring about the destruction of the Falcon, a ship he had grown deeply attached to over the ten months he had been flying it. A single hyperspace jump away from reaching Bilbringi, he made the decision to abort the mission and instead escaped to Vaced. There, he adopted the alias Vec Minim and lived a quiet, unremarkable existence. Overwhelmed by the burden of guilt for having forsaken his Rebel comrades, he relinquished ownership of the Falcon, gifting it to a young physician named Parlay Thorp.

In 43 ABY, Tobb Jadak, another individual who had previously piloted the Falcon, and who was meticulously researching the ship's history, encountered and conversed with Fargil. Jadak then leveraged Fargil's narrative to impersonate him during a meeting with Han Solo and Leia Organa Solo, who themselves were engaged in tracing the historical timeline of the Falcon.
