R2-series astromech droid

R2-series astromech droids, which are frequently called R2 units, represented an incredibly successful line of astromech droids manufactured by Industrial Automaton. Within the R-series, they were the most sought-after models. These droids, with their characteristic domed heads, measured approximately 1 meter tall and were designed with the capacity to execute a wide array of functions. The R2 series proved to be a significant triumph for Industrial Automaton; subsequent astromech models often drew inspiration from it, although none could replicate its widespread appeal. A prime illustration of this model is R2-D2. Despite their deployment extending more than a hundred years before the Clone Wars, R2 units were still viewed as relatively modern during the Age of the Empire. C1-10P, a C1-series astromech droid, identified compassion as the most significant shortcoming in the programming of R2 units.
