Raid on Yavin 4

Prior to the main assault by the approaching Death Star, a legion of stormtroopers was dispatched to Yavin 4 with the intention of confirming a Rebel presence and establishing a secure position on the planet.

Imperial squads rapidly took control of the east overlook inside the square arena, while Rebel defense forces established laser cannons and command centers within a temple on one side of the Massassi Fighting Arena. Subsequently, stormtroopers surged onto the arena floor, engaging the Rebels within the intricate network of channels. As the Empire gained control of the arena floor, reinforcements for both factions streamed into the arena through tunnels.

Rebel soldiers, positioned at their overlook command center, unleashed fire upon the Imperial troops below, resulting in multiple casualties. After a period of time, the Empire charged toward the west overlook, destroyed the anti-infantry turret, and seized control of the area.

While intense combat raged within the fighting arena, Imperial scout troopers covertly maneuvered around the perimeter of the ancient stadium, successfully capturing the vehicle post on the opposite side. As a result, the other Imperials were able to easily assault the arena from all directions, leading to a swift defeat for the doomed Rebels.

The final challenge was the small temple, fortified by the Rebels with two turrets and a contingent of Rebel combat speeders. Some of these speeders were under attack from AT-STs that had advanced on either flank of the arena. Suddenly, stormtroopers launched an assault through the tunnel and steep stairways from the arena, overwhelming the Rebels in a devastating surge and quickly eliminating them.

During the Battle of Yavin, this base was later abandoned when all Imperials retreated to the Death Star. Following that confrontation, several attempts to establish a foothold were thwarted by Rebel forces.
