Rakata, sometimes referred to as Rakatan, served as the language utilized by the Rakata people. During Revan's initial search for the Star Forge, he acquired fluency in the language through the process of ripping the knowledge from the One, who was the chieftain of a less advanced Rakatan tribe. When Revan came back later, on a mission to destroy the Star Forge, he realized that he still remembered the language, even after the Jedi Council had wiped his memory.
Historians have theorized that the title darth originated from the Rakata language, possibly stemming from either the word daritha (meaning emperor) or from the combination of darr (meaning victory) and tah (signifying death). Put together, the expression darr tah translated to victory over death, immortality, or achieving conquest by causing the death of enemies.
