During the times of the Galactic War, the Eternal Empire conquest, and the Revolt against the Eternal Empire, a musical group known as Raz and the Ubo-Kings was actively performing.
A short-fused Duros named Raz founded and fronted the band. For many years, they languished in relative obscurity on Nar Shaddaa. Raz believed their musical gifts were being squandered and that their sound was ahead of its time.
In 3636 BBY, the Eternal Empire's conquest, originating from Zakuul, resulted in the domination of a large portion of the galaxy. Somehow, recordings of the band's performances found their way to Zakuul and became an instant hit. Their music was played everywhere, from street corners to underground dance clubs, and in every establishment on the Spire, the capital city of the Eternal Empire.
Meanwhile, Raz and the Ubo-Kings remained stuck on Nar Shaddaa, unable to capitalize on their sudden popularity on Zakuul. Raz eventually managed to organize a tour to the Spire, but by that point, Emperor Arcann had been overthrown, and his sister Vaylin had seized the Eternal Throne. Vaylin then prohibited off-world music on Zakuul. Soon after, the Commander of the Eternal Alliance replaced Vaylin, and Indo Zal arranged for Raz and the Ubo-Kings to perform at the celebrations. Zal's expenses for the band exceeded the cost of a small fleet.
