The Galactic Empire had an equivalent honor known as the Imperial Badge of Meritorious Service.
The Rebel Alliance Badge of Valor made its appearance in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game that was developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts, before its servers were shut down on December 15, 2011. It was introduced into the game via "Game Update 11," which went live on June 23, 2009, and players could earn it during the Empire Day events of 2009, 2010, and 2011.
