Rebellion Era Sourcebook

The Rebellion Era Sourcebook serves as an addition to the Star Wars Roleplaying Game, brought to you by Wizards of the Coast. Bill Slavicsek, Steve Miller, and Owen K.C. Stephens are credited as its authors. Its initial release occurred in 2001.

This book provides detailed information from the time period of the original trilogy of films, along with significant information from the then-contemporary Expanded Universe. Included are characters, campaign advice for the Rebellion era, and adventure seeds.

These are the times of Civil War...

The Galactic Empire's reign is characterized by tyranny and oppression, as it threatens to extinguish the last vestiges of freedom. From the Outer Rim to the luxurious worlds of the Core, the Emperor's unyielding will and his New Order suppress all resistance. However, in this period of darkness, heroes arise—Rebels who are determined to bring back the glory of the Old Republic. Hope is placed in this Alliance, but will it be enough to defeat pure evil?

Inside the Book

Within its 159 pages, this book contains a substantial amount of information pertaining to the era of the Galactic Civil War. Roleplaying information is presented alongside a storyline set during the events of Episodes IV, V, and VI.

A Look Inside

The book begins with a brief summary of how the galaxy arrived at its current state. The downfall of the Republic and the rise of the New Order are described, and the twenty-year period between Episode III and Episode IV is briefly discussed.

Chapter 1: A New Hope

As is typical of most roleplaying games, there is a clear distinction between good and evil, and players are encouraged to align themselves with the side of good, if they haven't already done so.

The Doctrine of Fear

Tarkin's Doctrine of Fear, along with the Ultimate Battle Station, are presented as potential plot elements for the Gamemaster.

Tatooine

Despite being small, desolate, and seemingly insignificant, Tatooine is located near several hyperspace routes, and a number of significant Galactic events have occurred on the planet, making it worthy of attention as the home of the Skywalkers.

Droids

Droids, ranging from Protocol droids to Astromechs to Mouse droids, are essential to the functioning of the universe and are a ubiquitous aspect of Star Wars.

The Empire

The Empire, a major force in almost any campaign, along with Darth Vader, are detailed for use in gameplay.

Keeping the Light Side Alive

Details about Episode IV heroes Obi-Wan Kenobi and Luke Skywalker are provided as examples of Jedi characters, with warnings that it is difficult to be a Jedi or even Force-sensitive during this era, as Darth Vader actively hunts down any rumors of Jedi.

The End of the Senate

The demise of the Imperial Senate marked the end of the last remaining semblance of democracy within the Empire, and the Rebel Alliance gained significant momentum.

The Death of Alderaan

The Destruction of Alderaan is presented as a possible motivation for characters to join the Rebellion.

Ships

Details about the ships featured in Episode IV, as well as the companies that manufacture them, are provided. Information about the pilots of these vessels is also included.

The Battle of Yavin

The Battle of Yavin serves as a pivotal moment for the galaxy and is presented as another potential reason for characters to become involved with the Rebellion.

The Heroes of Yavin

Statistics are provided for Leia Organa, Han Solo, and Chewbacca as they are at the end of the Battle of Yavin.
