Rebels Recon is a YouTube video series offering a behind-the-scenes look at each episode and film of Star Wars Rebels. Produced by StarWars.com, the series explores the characters and plot points of each episode of Rebels. Andi Gutierrez, a social media correspondent employed by Lucasfilm, serves as the host.
The videos feature interviews with key members of the Lucasfilm Story Group, such as Pablo Hidalgo, Dave Filoni, and Henry Gilroy, as well as voice actors and concept artists. Discussions often cover the development of each episode and its connection to the broader Star Wars universe and the history of the Legends continuity. A prime example is when the Interdictor cruiser is featured; Hidalgo explains its initial appearance in a role-playing game by West End Games, its subsequent inclusion in Timothy Zahn's Thrawn trilogy, and the decision-making process behind its adaptation into the current canon for the TV show. Every episode ends with Hidalgo responding to a fan question submitted via Twitter during the previous week. A short comedic segment called Chopper Cam, featuring Chopper from Star Wars Rebels, is also a regular part of the video series.
Each season of the show has been included as supplementary content on the DVD/Blu-ray releases of each season of Star Wars Rebels.
