Reess Kairn was a male Twi'lek Jedi Knight within the Galactic Republic. He served the Jedi Order during the final decades of the Republic's existence. Unbeknownst to the Jedi High Council, Kairn secretly married a woman from his home planet, Ryloth. He later committed murder after discovering her unfaithfulness. Embracing the dark side of the Force, Kairn abandoned the Jedi and underwent reconstructive surgery to alter his appearance, transforming himself into a Human female. After a period of concealment within the Order of the Ffib, Kairn was eventually tracked down and killed by the bounty hunter Aurra Sing.
During the decline of the Galactic Republic, Reess Kairn, a male Twi'lek, achieved the rank of Jedi Knight within the Jedi Order. While on Ryloth, Kairn encountered a woman, fell in love, and married her, violating the principles of the Jedi Code and keeping it hidden from the High Council. Maintaining their clandestine relationship, Kairn remained an active Jedi, periodically returning to be with his wife.
On one such return to Ryloth, Kairn discovered his wife with another man. Consumed by rage, Kairn murdered both of them and set his home ablaze. Fearing the High Council's retribution, Kairn deserted the Jedi Order and embarked on a new life of piracy. Forming a pirate crew, Kairn descended further into the influence of the dark side of the Force and initiated raids on mines and trade vessels throughout the Mid Rim.
His final recorded raid targeted the planet Lorahns, where he pillaged the Great Temple of the Order of the Ffib, resulting in the deaths of four priests during his escape. After acquiring valuable artifacts, Kairn dissolved his crew and took measures to conceal his tracks from the Ffib Inquisitors. He employed three Shi'ido to impersonate him, scattering them across the galaxy. He underwent reconstructive surgery on Balmorra by rogue surgeons to alter his physical appearance. He rationalized that he was honoring and atoning for the murders of his wife and the Order of the Ffib members by changing his apparent species and gender to resemble a Human or Near-Human female. Kairn infiltrated the Order of the Ffib disguised as a blind priestess; a blindfold masked the uneven scars from the surgery.
In 27 BBY, Kairn, now disguised as the "blind priestess," retreated to the Sanctuary Moon of Endor and hired the bounty hunter Aurra Sing to locate and kill "Reess Kairn". Claiming that the real Kairn had employed two Shi'ido to impersonate him, Kairn hoped Sing would eliminate the impersonators, believing one to be the actual Kairn. After Sing traveled to Bespin, Hoth, and Tatooine, killing each impersonator, she realized the deception and returned to Endor. Although Kairn had hired the Thranta Mercenaries to eliminate Sing if she discovered the treachery, Sing appeared in Kairn's hut and fatally shot him in the back of the head.
