Serving as a scaled-down version of the NR2 gully jumper, the Rendaran-class assault shuttle functioned as a long-distance transport for the Galactic Republic during the Great Galactic War. Its design bore a resemblance to the Nu-class attack shuttle utilized millennia later during the Clone Wars. The shuttle possessed an approximate inverted "V" form, characterized by a pair of downward-sloping wings capable of folding upwards for landing. Its propulsion relied on a dual-engine system, and it was equipped with a minimum of two laser cannons positioned at the front.

Following the signing of the Treaty of Coruscant, Jedi Master Orgus Din and Lieutenant Harron Tavus embarked on a diplomatic mission destined for Balmorra. They utilized a Rendaran-class shuttle for this journey, and along their route, they encountered a drifting escape pod containing Jedi Knight Satele Shan along with the droid SP-99. Simultaneously, a Mandalorian raider ship was closing in on the pod; however, the shuttle successfully rescued the escape pod and proceeded to eliminate the significantly larger battleship.
