Renik's mission was to detect and dismantle hostile spy networks. Data regarding enemy factions that could benefit the Galactic Empire was handed off to Infiltration after identification. Groups considered irrelevant were destroyed.
The name "Renik" was deliberately shrouded in legend by the organization itself, with one story claiming it originated from a ritual practiced by the Delorf species. The Delorf were believed to possess an innate capacity to detect hostility and betrayal in anyone, regardless of their relationship. Upon sensing such animosity, Delorf sensitives would conduct a ritual, focusing their collective energy to purge the target of the negativity. This ritual was known as "Renik." A more plausible explanation suggests that the name was simply Admiral Kiner's name spelled backward, a reversal considered fitting for an agency dedicated to counter-intelligence. Kiner had been a highly regarded counter-intelligence operative within the Galactic Republic.
