The Republican Army served as the primary land-based military for the Galactic Republic prior to the rise of the Grand Army of the Republic. Sporting gray uniforms, the soldiers of this army were probably part of the Republic Judicial Forces. While many Jedi offered their assistance, the army's command structure was composed of conventional military officers. The Republican Army was deployed to confront Governor Vrox of Mandalore after it came to light that he dispatched small yet formidable Mandalorian units to assault adjacent star systems, and that he may have been engaged in the illicit manufacture of war droids. Ultimately, the Republic troops successfully re-established stability on Mandalore by apprehending Vrox and almost completely eliminating the Mandalorian military presence.
