RHTC-560 HT Drone

The RHTC-560 HT Drone represented a compact, semi-spherical drone model, designed to work in conjunction with the larger RHTC-560 Hunter Trainers. During the Imperial Era, Master Controllers utilized these drones as scouting units to locate and neutralize targets. Rodian D-Tec was the developer of the RHTC-560 system.

Description

In sharp contrast to the commanding size of the controller units, the HT drones were diminutive droids, roughly half the size of an R2-series astromech droid. Each drone was equipped with a pair of retractable arms at the front for object manipulation and two legs at the rear for movement across the jungle floor. They possessed a circular form factor and incorporated an anti-gravity repulsorlift module for hovering above their designated targets. To maximize their effectiveness, they were armed with stun blasters.

For operations in low-light conditions or dense jungle environments, these drones featured hi-intensity searchlights for target acquisition. Consistent with simpler droid designs, these drones lacked autonomous personal programming and were entirely reliant on control from their associated control unit within a 50 km radius, which limited their effectiveness in long-range hunting scenarios. However, the RHTC-560 system incorporated a creativity subroutine that enabled it to maintain functionality across a diverse array of challenging circumstances. The control unit could maintain command of its drone units even when submerged underwater.

Operational history

Rodian D-Tec initially marketed the RHTC-560 Hunter Trainer system locally on the Rodian homeworld of Rodia, catering to the Rodian cultural inclination towards violence and combat. Their clientele included bounty hunters and various Rodian clans, who employed them in both their clan wars and hunting activities, as well as the dictatorial Grand Protector Navik the Red. Allegedly, the Grand Protector's RHTC-560 system had been modified with lethal disruptor cannons for use against his captives in gladiatorial contests.

During the Imperial Era, the series achieved sufficient popularity to warrant offworld marketing beyond Rodia. Priced at 2,000 credits per HT drone and an additional 5,000 credits per control unit, the series proved economically viable for numerous non-Rodian bounty hunters and local planetary militias and police academies. Aron Harcourt, the captain of the Anya Karu, received three of these drones. They would later engage in combat with, and be defeated by, the bounty hunter Boba Fett.
