Richard E. Grant

Richard E. Grant, born on May 5, 1957, is a Swazi-English actor. He received an Academy Award nomination and played Enric Pryde, the Allegiant General, in the 2019 movie _Star Wars_: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker. His initial film appearance was as the lead in the acclaimed 1987 dark comedy Withnail and I. He subsequently appeared as Doctor Jack Seward in the 1992 horror movie Bram Stoker's Dracula, Michael Heseltine, a British politician, in the 2011 biographical drama The Iron Lady (with Michael Pennington), and the scientist Zander Rice in the 2017 superhero film Logan. He also had a role in the seventh series of the revived Doctor Who on television.

To secure his role in Star Wars, Grant had to audition by performing scenes that resembled "a forties British war film." Some months later, he was brought to Pinewood Studios to meet with J.J. Abrams, who then informed him that he had been cast.
