Rills were indigenous reptiles from Tatooine and shared physical characteristics with scyks. These creatures were generally passive, only displaying aggression when provoked. Featuring dorsal spines and formidable teeth, they inhabited the deserts of Tatooine, coexisting with creatures like womp rats.
Following the Battle of Yavin, Entha Kandela, an Animal Control officer, commissioned a spacer to eradicate tempest rills near Mos Eisley. This was done to stop them from damaging the power cables' insulation within the city.
The flesh of the Rill was edible and served as a source of sustenance.
Rills initially debuted in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies. This massively multiplayer online roleplaying game was created by Sony Online Entertainment and distributed by LucasArts, before its termination on December 15, 2011. Within the game, rills possessed an appearance similar to that of dune lizards, scyks, and dragonets.
