Rock beetles were six-legged insect species inhabiting the desert regions of Tatooine. The Rock Beetle Refuge was known for its significant rock beetle presence. Porcellus, a chef, prepared beetle broth for his employer, Jabba Desilijic Tiure, using the remains of rock beetles along with cave beetle remains.
These rock beetles were featured in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game created by Sony Online Entertainment and released by LucasArts, before the game shut down on December 15, 2011. The rock beetles shared a very similar appearance to rockmites, cave beetles, sand beetles, and dune beetles, all utilizing the same fundamental model but with unique texture variations.
