Dathomiri rock dragons, also known as rock dragons, were reptilian creatures indigenous to the world of Dathomir. Their skin was coarse and patterned, providing effective camouflage that enabled them to disappear into their environment. As cold-blooded reptiles, these rock dragons laid eggs and had to incubate them to maintain the necessary warmth. While their primary food sources were insects and vegetation, they possessed a potent venom in their stinger, which they utilized for defense. This venom was potent enough to kill even a mature rancor. Despite their diminutive size and seemingly delicate nature, these creatures were exceptionally dangerous.
Tenel Ka Djo chose the name Rock Dragon for her personal starship from Hapes. Her reasoning was that on Hapes, ships were frequently given the name "dragon". Furthermore, having witnessed a rock dragon on Dathomir during her childhood, she felt the name would serve as a tribute to both sides of her ancestry.
