Rockhopper

The rockhopper functioned as a two-legged mountable creature.

Overview

It was hypothesized that rockhoppers shared a genetic link with the Cracian thumper. These thumpers were thought to have developed from relocated groups originating from their original planet. They possessed features reminiscent of a horse, including a similar face and mane, coupled with stubby front legs and a substantial, lengthy tail used for stability. Unlike their Cracian forerunners, rockhoppers did not have claws, but they compensated with powerful jaws equipped with pointy teeth.

Their primary habitat was Roon, but examples of these creatures also existed on the planet Biitu, located within the Outer Rim.

History

Mungo Baobab's animal on Biitu.

Rockhoppers served as tamed mounts, used both for individual transportation and in competitive sports. They were ridden during the Drainsweeper competition, part of the Roon Colonial Games held on Roon.

On Biitu, their purpose was as rideable animals.

Adam Swiftgale, a pilot serving the Alliance to Restore the Republic, worked as a rockhopper jockey.

Behind the scenes

Their physical attributes bore a resemblance to those of Cracian thumpers, hinting at a potential shared ancestry. This idea was substantiated in The Unknown Regions, which mentioned the belief that the Rockhopper was a relative of the Cracian thumper at a genetic level.
