Captain Ryko Vant was a male Human Imperial officer who served the Imperial forces on the planet of Jerne during the era of the Galactic Civil War. As the commanding officer at Jerne City H.Q., Vant, sometime following the Battle of Yavin, briefly captured prominent Rebel figures Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa; however, he was attacked by guerrillas under the leadership of Meeka Reen before he could secure them.
Amidst the slaughter of his stormtroopers, Vant used a jetpack to escape back to Jerne City, where he encountered the Sith Lord Darth Vader. Vader had arrived on Jerne with his own scheme: to use rumors of a powerful artifact known as the "Eternity Crystal" to set a trap for Skywalker and Organa at Adony Station. Vant went with Vader to Adony Station to witness the Rebels' downfall, but Skywalker outmaneuvered them and killed Vant by using a proton grenade.
The first appearance of Ryko Vant was in the comic "Dark Knight's Devilry," which was written by Steve Moore, with illustrations by Alan Davis. It was initially published in January 1982 within The Empire Strikes Back Monthly 153.
