RZ7-6113-23 was a lifeless class-6 planetoid of a volcanic and rocky nature. It resided within the Chopani sector situated in the Outer Rim Territories.
This small class-6 planetoid, known as RZ7-6113-23, was found in a far-flung sector of the galaxy. Despite being a largely desolate, volcanic world devoid of any signs of life, RZ7-6113-23 surprisingly housed a substantial military storehouse.
In the early years of the Galactic Empire, a clandestine storehouse was constructed on the planetoid. Outdated equipment, officially designated as retired from Imperial service, such as the Acclamator-class assault ship and the AT-AP, were secretly diverted to this location instead of being impounded. By 13 ABY, the warlord Ennix Devian had made the storehouse his base of operations, leading a dissident faction of the Galactic Empire called the "Restored Empire," also recognized as the hard-liners. Having lost confidence in the direction the Imperial Remnant was taking under Admiral Gilad Pellaeon, Devian intended to utilize the supplies within the storehouse to raise an army large enough to assault the Imperial capital of Orinda, with the goal of establishing a new order worthy of the late Emperor Palpatine's vision. At one point, the New Republic Dauntless-class heavy cruiser Endor was destroyed by a projectile cannon operated by Imperial hard-liners from the planet's surface.
As part of his scheme, Devian arranged for the abduction of Kir Kanos, a former member of the Imperial Royal Guard, and brought him to RZ7-6118-23 in an attempt to enlist him. However, Kanos's conflicting sense of honor caused him to decline the offer, and he managed to escape the planetoid in a hijacked shuttle following a significant firefight within the Imperial storehouse; unbeknownst to Kanos, this was part of Devian's scheme. Shortly after Kanos's departure, a New Republic warship arrived in the system to investigate the disappearance of the Endor. Devian was compelled to abandon his base, ordering a diversionary attack on the warship while the remainder of his forces retreated. The storehouse was set to self-destruct, and as soon as a Republic ground team infiltrated it, the entire complex detonated.
RZ7-6113-23 made its initial appearance in Star Wars canon within the first issue of Star Wars: Crimson Empire III—Empire Lost, the third entry in the Star Wars: Crimson Empire trilogy. The presence of Clone Wars-era ship designs on RZ7-6113-23 marked the initial appearance of prequel trilogy starship designs in the Crimson Empire series, given that the previous installment, Crimson Empire II: Council of Blood, was released in 1998, a year prior to the release of Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace.
