During the time of the Clone Wars, a clandestine research station was in operation. It was positioned in orbit around S-Ipsus, which itself was a sub-city belonging to the airborne metropolis of Ipsus found on the planet named Genarius. Its establishment occurred roughly around 21 BBY, with the purpose of enabling an investigation into a virus that was fatal to the Caarite species. This virus had been created by the Believers, a Sith cult, and the research aimed to enhance understanding of this infectious agent. Nirama, a crime lord, became aware of the existence of this research station and proceeded to observe the activities taking place there, albeit unofficially. Following the retrieval of a bomb holding a sample of the anti-Caarite virus by a team of freelance agents originating from the moon of Tilnes, the explosive was transported to the S-Ipsus research station for additional analysis. While there, a tracking beacon that was embedded inside the bomb became active, transmitting a signal to a secret Believer laboratory located on S-Ipsus, thus making the cultists aware that the bomb had not been triggered.
