The S19 astromech droid, conceptualized by LesTech, represented an endeavor to enter the profitable astromech droid market and was classified as a droid.
Resembling the EG-6 power droid due to its box-shaped structure, the S19 navigated via a broad, singular track. This design flaw resulted in instability and a tendency to topple during abrupt movements. Equipped with a claw-like limb, six specialized tool extensions, a five-jump astrogation buffer, an integrated comlink, and a holorecorder, the S19 carried a price tag of 8625 credits when new. Its design permitted various customizations. By augmenting its defenses, removing internal components, and incorporating a compact gravity well generator, it could effectively disrupt enemy targeting, emulating the function of the dovin basal employed by the Yuuzhan Vong.
Alternatively, an S19 could be transformed into a portable shield by uninstalling the astrogation buffer and holorecorder and integrating a shield generator. This modification enabled it to offer protective coverage for a small team. Furthermore, the S19 could be adapted for pathfinding and reconnaissance missions by substituting its track with a repulsorlift system. This required a reprogramming to process surface conditions rather than charting hyperspace routes.
