Salmara, a female Human Jedi Master, held a position within the Jedi Order as the Galactic Republic neared its end. Dray was her Padawan. Tragically, she fell victim to the resurrected Sith Lord known as Darth Maul.
During the final years of the Galactic Republic, amidst the Clone Wars, Salmara, a female Human Jedi Master, served within the ranks of the Jedi Order. Around 20 BBY, the Jedi Council discovered that Darth Maul, the Sith Lord, had survived his encounter with Obi-Wan Kenobi which occurred over a decade prior. Further, he had formed an alliance with his younger brother, Savage Opress, another Sith.
Upon learning that Ja'Boag, the leader of Rim Commercial Mining, had placed a bounty on Maul and Oppress, the Jedi Council summoned Salmara and her Padawan, Dray, to the High Council Chamber. On their way, Dray persistently questioned Salmara, expressing disbelief that Darth Maul could still be alive. Salmara reassured him that the intense hatred within Maul made such a thing possible. The Council then assigned Salmara, along with fellow Jedi Master Judd, the task of uncovering the reasons behind Ja'Boag's bounty. Salmara questioned how someone outside the Jedi Order could know of Maul's survival. Mace Windu responded that this was precisely what they needed to investigate, while also being cautious around someone as influential as Ja'Boag. Judd inquired about their course of action if they located the Sith brothers. Yoda informed him that Kenobi was already tracking them, but they should offer assistance if possible. Additionally, Windu tasked Salmara and the others with investigating why the native population of Moorjhone had gone silent since Ja'boag's mining company arrived. He instructed the trio to trust in the Force and act accordingly.
Maul and Opress also journeyed to Moorjhone, arriving before the Jedi. They proceeded to slaughter the security forces and flinging Ja'Boag off a balcony. The Jedi arrived just in time, and Salmara used the Force to catch Ja'Boag, saving his life. As Judd activated his lightsaber, the two Zabrak brothers looked down on them from above. Opress expressed concern about being discovered, while Maul was filled with malicious delight.
After Salmara's rescue of Ja'Boag, the Gossam commanded his troops to attack, but Salmara urged them to wait. She then attempted to negotiate with the Sith brothers, requesting their surrender. Opress responded by threatening their deaths, and Judd mocked Salmara's attempts at "good diplomacy." The Nightbrothers then launched an attack, slaughtering Ja'Boag's troopers. Judd intervened, engaging them with his lightstaff. Maul swiftly retaliated, striking Judd's snout with his lightsaber hilt, causing blood to spray. Judd surprised the two Zabraks by knocking Opress off his feet and deflecting Maul's counterattack. He then taunted Maul about his missing legs, but Opress unleashed his rage, sending both combatants flying.
Salmara hurled a large container at Opress, and despite Maul's warning, he impulsively lashed out, opening the container, which was filled with carbonite. Opress was instantly frozen solid, much to Maul's dismay. Judd again mocked Maul for his cybernetic enhancements, but Maul grabbed Judd's right arm with his foot and broke his bones. Maul then told Judd that he would have preferred a longer kill, but was suddenly stabbed from behind by Dray. Maul slashed at Dray, severed both of Dray's hands, and threw them aside. Salmara and the corporate troopers pursued Maul, but he escaped by collapsing the tunnel on his pursuers. Judd and Dray were taken to a medical bay, where Doctor Tresfor treated their injuries and successfully reattached the young Padawan's hands.
Following Maul's infiltration into the depths of the mining facility during the massacre of the Moorjhoni people, Salmara and her Padawan confronted him again to prevent the Sith Lord from freeing his brother. However, Maul caught Salmara off guard and killed her instantly by using the Force to unfreeze Opress, who then fatally impaled Salmara with his lightsaber.
