Sarissa
The Sarissa, a dreadnought-class warship, served the Galactic Empire. Its duty was to safeguard the Poln system within the Candoras sector, as a component of the sector's naval forces. Senior Captain Thrawn of the Empire directed the vessel's Caldorf VII interceptor missiles to the planet Poln Minor within the Poln system, where they were pilfered by Storm-hair Warlord Nuso Esva. Esva's forces then armed fifty Whisperlike fighters with the stolen missiles in 0 ABY. Later, the dreadnought engaged Esva's Eastern Fleet in combat alongside other Imperial warships.
Description
Equipped with fifty Caldorf VII interceptor missiles and turbolasers, the Dreadnought Sarissa was a vessel of outdated design.
Role
As part of Governor Bidor Ferrouz's sector fleet in Candoras, the Sarissa was a component of the Galactic Empire's Imperial Navy. It protected the Poln system of the Candoras sector while in orbit above Poln Major, the capital planet of the Poln system.
History
Under the guise of sending the Sarissa's missiles to the Imperial Spillwater Fleet base for calibration due to suspected malfunctions in their guidance systems in 0 ABY, Senior Captain Thrawn secretly dispatched them to the planet Poln Minor. There, Storm-hair Warlord Nuso Esva's forces seized them. His Chosen soldiers then loaded the captured missiles onto their fifty Whisperlike fighters.
Following the arrival of the Imperial Task Force Admonitor and the Imperial II-class Star Destroyer Chimaera over Poln Major, Esva's formidable Eastern Fleet, consisting of twenty-eight Firekiln warships, appeared. They were poised to obliterate the Sarissa and Candoras' fleet should they attempt to aid the Star Destroyers. Esva also directed the Chimaera on a collision course with Poln's Golan I space station and trapped Task Force Admonitor and the Sarissa within Poln Minor's gravity well. However, the Chimaera managed to avert the collision, and the Sarissa moved to assist the Admonitor, as reported by Barcelle, the Commandant of the Golan station. The Whisperlikes, armed with the dreadnought's missiles, attempted to destroy the Admonitor, but the Golan destroyed them before they could reach their target. Shortly thereafter, the Imperial Death Squadron, with the massive Executor-class Star Dreadnought Executor as its flagship, arrived and contributed to the total destruction of Esva's Eastern Fleet.
