A species of weasel was known as a scampweasel. During the year 228 BBY, following the unsuccessful attempt by the Jedi Order and the Republic Defense Coalition to capture Nihil scientist Niv Drendow Apruk on the planet Mynos III, Jedi Padawan Ram Jomaram likened Apruk's evasion to that of a slippery scampweasel in a remark to Jedi archivist Lyssa Votz.
Within the established Star Wars canon, the term scampweasel appeared in the 2024 children's book The High Republic: Beware the Nameless. This book was authored by Zoraida Córdova and released as a component of Phase III of the Star Wars: The High Republic initiative. Conversely, in the Star Wars Legends narrative, the term scampweasel was present in The Last of the Jedi: Secret Weapon. This was a 2007 children's book penned by Jude Watson and served as the seventh book in the Star Wars: The Last of the Jedi collection.
