Sea Commando

During the Battle of Mon Calamari, a New Republic Sea Commando assault team initiates a boarding action.

Sea Commandos represented specialized units within the Rebel Alliance Military, focusing on various forms of underwater and water-based combat. Following the establishment of the New Republic Military, they were integrated into its structure.

History

In the years preceding the return of Emperor Palpatine, the Galactic Empire investigated the possibility of a gravity well generator located in the Sedri system. The soldiers involved in this operation utilized specialized gear, enabling them to operate at all depths within the oceans of Sedri. Upon the initial arrival of the Rebel Alliance on the planet, the indigenous Sedrians provided them with training and invaluable expertise in underwater warfare techniques. This enabled the Rebels to infiltrate the Imperial garrison base and analyze the Imperial equipment. The Sea Commandos were then established, based on this acquired knowledge and collaborative discussions with the Sedrians.

Following the creation of the New Republic, the Sea Commandos were incorporated into their armed forces. During the Battle of Calamari in 10 ABY, Sea Commando teams were deployed to board World Devastators that were attacking the planet Dac.

Training

To enhance their skills and ensure they were reliable soldiers for any aquatic mission, Sea Commandos were routinely deployed to various worlds, exposing them to diverse environments. Their training encompassed a wide range of aquatic scenarios, from navigating swamps and bayous to ascending waterfalls and cataracts. Standard equipment for Sea Commandos included blaster rifles, concussion grenades, stun grenades, grapple guns, blast helmets, blast armor, waterproof uniforms, and survival kits.
