Blast-dampening armor, also called blast armor, was a specific type of armor manufactured by Creshaldyne Industries.
The blast armor from Creshaldyne Industries was designed to be a medium armor jerkin. It was sufficiently thick to provide substantial blast-dampening capabilities, while still being lightweight enough to permit mobility during combat. This armor provided protection against intense cold, thermal energy, electrical energy, and sonic energy. It shielded the wearer's chest, back, and shoulders. The armor's external layer consisted of a rubbery substance containing thousands of minuscule reflective crystals suspended in a semi-solid gel. These crystals served to scatter blaster energy and soak up the extreme heat produced by blaster fire. Simultaneously, the gel absorbed significant kinetic energy, shielding the wearer by spreading out impacts from blunt force weapons, falls, punches, and kicks. The combination of a rubbery exterior and gel interior significantly reduced vibrations from vibroblades, greatly weakening the effectiveness of these weapons, and providing effective defense against slashing and piercing attacks.
The Naboo Security Guard, tasked with guarding the Naboo Palace located in Theed, made use of this particular armor variant.
