The Second Battle of Qotile, a conflict within the Stark Hyperspace War, marked the second of five engagements on the Outer Rim planet of Troiken. After the devastating first battle, the surviving troops of Ranulph Tarkin's paramilitary reorganized within the Mount Avos mines on Troiken, where they faced aerial attacks from the forces of the Stark Collective. Despite the initial setback, Iaco Stark assured the Collective's leaders that the Republic resistance was insignificant and that a direct assault would crush them. The Collective's leaders had hoped for a quick victory, but they were convinced by Stark to continue the fight. This information was intercepted via telepathy by Jedi Knight Plo Koon, who then used it to fortify the Republic's defenses. Despite being outnumbered, the Republic forces possessed a tactical advantage due to their fortified location and superior discipline. The battle continued for many hours, with the Collective forces retreating and regrouping several times before ultimately being defeated. Throughout the conflict, Koon was able to foresee the Collective's attacks.
In the aftermath of the battle, the Jedi provided aid to the injured Republic soldiers, while Stark dissuaded his officers from launching further assaults, opting instead to starve out the Republic forces, who only had a ten-day supply of food and limited ammunition.
