Stark Commercial Combine

The Stark Commercial Combine, alternatively known as the Stark Collective or Stark Commerce Combine, was a criminal organization composed of pirates and smugglers operating within the Outer Rim Territories. This group was structured, managed, and named in honor of the crime lord Iaco Stark. The Raptor served as its flagship vessel.

History

Working covertly with corrupt officials within the leadership of both the Trade Federation and the Xucphra Corporation, the Collective instigated the bacta shortage of 44 BBY. During this crisis, the Combine gained a reputation as saviors among the impoverished residents of the Outer Rim. They achieved this by staging "raids" on bacta shipments and diverting them to planets unable to afford the life-saving substance, all while still profiting from sales that benefited their alliance with the Trade Federation.

The Jedi Council had suspicions that the Collective was the cause of the bacta shortage. In conjunction with representatives from the Galactic Senate they agreed to Stark's proposal to have a mediation summit take place on the planet Troiken. However, this was a ruse. The Collective had engineered a navicomputer virus and unleashed it upon the illegal war fleet assembled by Senator Ranulph Tarkin, which triggered the Stark Hyperspace War.

The Combine suffered defeat in the war after the Jedi intervened, convincing the Trade Federation to betray their allies. The Xucphra Corporation's deceit was exposed, leading to their expulsion from Thyferra. Stark, in an attempt to secure favorable terms for defection to the Galactic Republic, murdered his fellow Combine directors (which he did). Following the Fifth Battle of Qotile, the remaining members of the Collective surrendered. Stark eventually transitioned into a legitimate businessman, working for the Commerce Guild.
