Second Battle of Vontor

The Second Battle of Vontor, occurring around 25,100 BBY, marked the second inconclusive engagement between the expansionist Hutts and the Empire led by Xim the Despot.

Background

For a period of time, the Hutt Empire and Xim's empire, which he had established within the Tion Cluster, were rivals vying for dominance over the Si'Klaata Cluster. Vontor, a planet within the cluster, became a critical point of contention along the Hutts' invasion path.

The battle

An initial conflict had already transpired over control of the planet, but Xim was resolute in his determination to engage in a renewed attempt to secure it.

Aftermath

Due to the battle ending without a clear victor, the Hutts decided to enlist the services of Vodran, Nikto, and Weequay mercenaries. This decision ultimately secured their triumph over Xim during the Third Battle of Vontor.

Legacy

"The Gleam of Kiirium" featured the Second Battle of Vontor. It is a poem supposedly penned by Asenec, a Croke poet, in the days leading up to his death in 244 BBY.
