Mission to Byss (Kyle Katarn)

Background

Rosh Penin's investigation of Byss was never completed (his investigation due to his fall to the dark side. Consequently, Korr was dispatched to ascertain whether Tavion Axmis had already utilized the Scepter of Ragnos to drain the Force energy of the planet. Katarn opted to accompany Korr, aiming to prevent Korr's potential capture.

The mission

Upon their arrival at Byss, Korr and Katarn were unable to detect any dark side presence, thus confirming that Tavion Axmis had already taken the energy she sought. However, before they could depart from the system, the Imperial Dreadnaught ensnared the Raven's Claw in its tractor beam. After their ship was brought onboard, Katarn and Korr separated. Katarn proceeded to activate the ship's self-destruct sequence, while Korr headed to disable the tractor beam.

Ultimately, Korr succeeded in deactivating the tractor beam, engaging in combat with stormtroopers and hazard stormtroopers during his mission. The Imperials, however, had already transmitted a distress signal, and soon TIE/LN starfighters and TIE/sa bombers commenced an assault on the Dreadnaught. Korr assumed control of the Dreadnaught's turbolaser cannons and obliterated the TIEs. After reuniting with Katarn in the hangar and escaping aboard the Raven's Claw, the Dreadnaught was destroyed, with the resulting explosion eliminating several surviving TIEs that were pursuing the Raven's Claw.

Behind the scenes

When the player returns to the hangar bay at the mission's conclusion, Kyle Katarn can be seen wielding his well-known Bryar pistol, which is featured in Dark Forces I, II, Mysteries of the Sith, and Jedi Outcast.
