Selkatha, alternatively referred to as Selkath, served as the linguistic means of communication for the Selkath people. Furthermore, the Rakatan guardian droid that Revan came across during his quest to locate the Star Map on Dantooine utilized it as one of its languages. Dreddon, Bastilla Shan, and Revan, among others, were not native speakers of Selkath.
Upon Revan and Bastilla Shan's entry into the temple housing the Star Map, the Rakatan guardian droid proceeded to cycle through its pre-programmed languages until the two Jedi were able to identify and comprehend a more archaic version of Selkatha. Following this recognition, the droid used this language to communicate with them.
