A sensory deprivation containment device can be described as a coffin-shaped enclosure featuring a thin opening along its upper surface. If a person were positioned within this box, they would experience complete visual and auditory isolation. The [Absolutes]((/article/absolutes) employed this device as a method of inflicting torture upon their captives on the planet of Apsolon around the year 47 BBY. Following the downfall of the Absolutes, nearly all of these devices were dismantled, except for a single specimen that found its place within a museum collection. In an attempt to regain their former authority six years later, the Absolutes orchestrated a theft of the device, abducted the siblings Eritha and Alani, and confined them within it, issuing a demand for the resignation of Supreme Governor Roan. Shortly thereafter, the Jedi Tahl was also captured and subjected to several days of confinement within the sensory deprivation containment device, an ordeal that, compounded by the administration of a paralyzing agent, ultimately resulted in her death.
