Alani was a female Human, specifically the daughter of Ewane and the twin sister of Eritha.
On New Apsolon, Alani came into existence in 57 BBY. The planet was governed by a totalitarian regime during this period. The Civilized class enjoyed all the advantages, while the Workers class existed in impoverishment. Alani's father, Ewane, played a leading role in the resistance against this societal structure. Consequently, he spent a significant portion of his life incarcerated, rarely seeing his daughters. Alani and Eritha were primarily raised by their father's acquaintances, due to their mother's death around the time of their birth. Lenz was one such friend.
Following the regime's collapse, their father was elected as Supreme Governor of New Apsolon in the initial elections of 47 BBY. At that juncture, the Jedi Knights were dispatched to oversee the election process. Qui-Gon Jinn and Tahl represented the Jedi, with Tahl forming a connection with Alani and her twin, Eritha.
Ewane served as governor for a five-year duration, but was assassinated early in his second term. Roan, a close associate of their father and his eventual replacement, took them in as his own. Subsequently, Alani and Eritha devised a scheme to seize power on New Apsolon. This plan involved the murder of Roan and the abduction of Tahl, who ultimately perished from her injuries. Nevertheless, the plan was thwarted, largely due to the actions of Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi, who had journeyed to New Apsolon in search of the missing Tahl. Alani, being less cunning than Eritha, inadvertently revealed to Obi-Wan that Qui-Gon was to be ensnared in a trap conceived by her sister, prompting Obi-Wan to rescue Qui-Gon. In the aftermath of the failed scheme, Alani and Eritha, along with their accomplice Balog faced arrest.
