Settlement Pact

The Settlement Pact represented an agreement created between delegates of the Sauvax species, who were native to the planet Leritor, and the Human colonists who desired to establish a settlement there during the time of the Galactic Republic.

Upon the initial Human exploration team's discovery of the tribes, or kuuvans, of sentient Sauvax on the planet, they established communication and negotiated an arrangement. Both groups consisted of peace-loving individuals who sought to prevent conflict.

The Sauvax typically centered their villages, also referred to as kuuvans, along the planet's coast. This suited the Humans, who planned to cultivate the rich inland plains. Consequently, the Settlement Pact prohibited Humans, spacecraft, and other external entities, including the settlers' combine-reapers, from coming within 100 kilometers of the coastline. The Sauvax, however, were not subject to similar restrictions, allowing them to freely enter Human territory if they wished to trade, learn about their culture, or seek assistance. In specific instances, the Sauvax could extend an invitation for an ambassador to visit their kuuvans, although this was not a common occurrence.

For a number of years, both the Human settlers and the Sauvax honored the Settlement Pact, and no disputes arose between them. Nevertheless, a Dark Side Adept named Profex Rynalla assaulted a Human combine-reaper, intentionally leaving behind traditional Sauvax weaponry. Rynalla's motive was to instigate a war between the Humans and the Sauvax while she searched for a missing Sith artifact. A Sauvax kuuvan mobilized to seek clarification from the Humans regarding the alleged violation of the Treaty, but Rynalla was ultimately exposed, and a full-scale war was averted.
