A formidable male Human Jedi Knight, Sharad Hett, flourished in the relatively peaceful decades preceding the Invasion of Naboo. Celebrated as a hero and legend during the era before the Clone Wars within the Galactic Republic, Hett garnered considerable recognition within the Jedi Order. However, his renown eventually became a burden, and following a cataclysm that obliterated his homeworld and resulted in the death of his family, he chose to exile himself to Tatooine, where he rose to become the warlord commanding a Tusken Raider tribe.
During this period, he fathered a son named A'Sharad Hett. He continued to govern the Tuskens until the Jedi dispatched Ki-Adi-Mundi as their representative to bring him back. Sharad Hett met his end at the hands of Aurra Sing amidst a conflict between the Tuskens and the Hutts of Tatooine. In accordance with the Jedi's dying wish, Ki-Adi-Mundi brought A'Sharad to Coruscant to become his Padawan. Many years after Sharad's demise, A'Sharad succumbed to the dark side, transforming into the notorious Darth Krayt, the ruler of the One Sith.
As was customary for members of the Jedi Order of that time, Sharad Hett, who was Force-sensitive, was entrusted to the Jedi by his parents in his infancy. Born on a planet in the Outer Rim whose name has been forgotten, Hett's parents willingly relinquished their child for training, honored to be among the esteemed families who produced a Jedi Knight.

Sharad Hett was admitted to the academy at the Coruscant Jedi Temple and was eventually chosen to be the Padawan of Jedi Master Eeth Koth. Master Koth developed a strong bond with the dedicated and fearless young Hett, allowing him to maintain contact with his family and visit his homeworld, although his apprenticeship made such visits infrequent. After years of training with Koth and constructing his own lightsaber, Hett was promoted to the rank of Jedi Knight. He quickly established a legacy that surpassed even his Master's reputation, earning numerous titles during his service as a Guardian, including Howlrunner, the Champion of Krmar, the Nemesis of Pirates, the Defender of Kamparus, the Hound of Worlds, the Tamer of Tyrants, and the Nemesis of the Kimm.
At some point, Hett became acquainted with Qui-Gon Jinn, whom he greatly respected and affectionately referred to as an "old rascal."
Despite his fame and prestige within the Order, Hett grew weary, recognizing that the accolades from his peers contradicted the humility taught by the Jedi Code. He desired nothing more than to reunite with his family, with whom he had lost contact over the years. After completing another perilous mission and returning to the Temple, Hett ignored the cheering crowds of his peers and sought out Master Koth. In a Temple corridor, Hett confessed his desire to leave the Order to the Zabrak. With a tearful farewell, Master Koth accepted Hett's resignation, and the Human departed from the Temple for the last time in 47 BBY.
Tragically, Hett's long-awaited reunion with his family would never occur. Upon arriving on his homeworld, he found only death and destruction. An alliance of offworld rivals had attacked his planet during his absence. Every major city was destroyed, and millions were killed, including every member of Sharad's family.

Overwhelmed by grief, Hett permanently left the Republic, voluntarily exiling himself. He crash-landed on Tatooine, where he eventually integrated into the local Tusken culture. He became a feared warlord among the Sand People, teaching them new combat techniques. Furthermore, Hett took a wife, K'Sheek, a Human woman who had been kidnapped and raised within Tusken society since childhood. Together, they had a son, A'Sharad, whom Hett began to train in the ways of the Jedi.
More than a decade had passed since Hett's exile began when Jabba the Hutt instigated a war between the Humans and Tuskens of Tatooine to sell his stock of outdated blasters. Sharad Hett, seeing no other option, led the Tusken tribes in the conflict. He managed to prevent the worst atrocities and minimize civilian casualties. Nevertheless, he became a feared figure among the non-Tuskens of Tatooine, and footage of what appeared to be a lightsaber-wielding Tusken reached the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, where Hett's former colleagues were astonished to see that he was still alive.

The Jedi High Council dispatched Master Ki-Adi-Mundi to retrieve Hett, reasoning that Mundi was the only Jedi skilled enough to defeat the rogue Jedi in a duel who would not be swayed by memories of past friendships. Mundi located both Hett and young A'Sharad, who rescued the Cerean from a krayt dragon. Hett had hoped that Qui-Gon Jinn would be the emissary sent to find him and was saddened to learn of his murder. Despite Mundi informing Hett of the surprising news of the reborn Sith threat, he could not persuade his fellow Jedi to return to Coruscant. Hett believed his place was on Tatooine, with the Tuskens.

Eventually, based on intelligence gathered by the bounty hunter Aurra Sing, both Gardulla the Elder and Jabba launched a surprise attack on the main Tusken camp. As promised, Hett led his people into battle but was confronted by Aurra Sing. The Tusken easily blocked the bounty hunter's attacks, but a quick Dun Möch distraction gave Sing the opportunity she needed to plunge her lightsaber into his chest. Before his death, Hett made Ki-Adi-Mundi promise to accept his son, A'Sharad, into the Jedi Order and train him as his own Padawan, to which Ki-Adi-Mundi agreed. Hett's final words acknowledged that while he had not known his own parents, he was honored to have known his son.

It was believed that Sharad Hett would have reached the rank of Jedi Master had he not exiled himself. He possessed exceptional skill in lightsaber combat and easily defended himself against Aurra Sing. Sing only managed to defeat him by using the Dun Möch technique. He was also proficient in using the Force. Furthermore, Hett was an expert in harsh environmental survival tactics, which aided him during his time with the Tusken Raiders. He successfully adapted to the Tusken wildlife and the harsh desert conditions.
Sharad Hett wielded a lightsaber throughout his career as a Jedi Knight, keeping it with him even during his self-imposed exile on Tatooine. A'Yark recalled the blade being green, but it was red during Sharad's time as a warlord.

In 32 BBY, when the Jedi Temple received a report of a Tusken Raider wielding the lightsaber while leading a large Tusken war band, the saber was linked to a historical holorecording of Sharad Hett. Due to Hett's fame, it was immediately recognized by many Jedi, including Grand Master Yoda and Eeth Koth, his former master. This clue led the Jedi to identify the Sand Person wielding the lightsaber as Hett himself.
Before becoming one with the Force, Sharad Hett gifted his lightsaber to his son, A'Sharad Hett, who wielded it throughout the Clone Wars. However, decades later, A'Sharad Hett embraced the Sith and became Darth Krayt, named after the krayt dragon of Tatooine. It remains unknown whether he still possessed the weapon at that time.
