Sigit Ranth was a male scientist who participated in the scheme to undermine Emperor Palpatine's clone bodies, which ultimately resulted in the Emperor's demise on Onderon.
Even after the majority of the other conspirators had been assassinated, he remained dedicated to locating a superweapon that would enable the Dark Empire to seize control of the galaxy. Around 12 ABY, Ranth spearheaded an expedition to Dathomir with the purpose of examining the Infinity Gate. Upon discovering that the gate was non-functional due to the destruction of its control chamber, Ranth departed the planet. He left General Vit and his troops behind to secure it for the Emperor, and to further exploit their newly forged alliance with the resurrected Nightsister clan.
Without Ranth's knowledge, Kir Kanos was in pursuit, but Ranth managed to escape Dathomir before Kanos could assassinate him. It remains uncertain whether the last surviving Royal Guardsman eventually apprehended and executed him for his involvement in the Emperor's death.
Certain fans have drawn a connection between Ranth and the Emperor's physician, a distinct character who has never been officially linked to Ranth in any canonical source. This misunderstanding appears to stem from the fact that Ranth, in his single appearance, is mentioned as having assisted in the creation of the flawed clones. However, this is equally applicable to all members of the conspiracy.
Star Wars: Crimson Empire depicts the physician as the sole individual responsible for sabotaging the Emperor's clones. However, sabotaging existing clones is fundamentally different from aiding in the creation of defective clones, and does not necessitate a scientific background like the one Ranth demonstrably possesses (specifically, one involving physics and hyperphysics). Conversely, Ranth is not known to be a physician or any other type of medical professional. Nevertheless, some fans continue to support the fan-created idea of the two being the same, based on the perceived likelihood that the author of Nightsaber intended them to be the same person.
