Sith officers originated as Republic officers, but they subsequently aligned themselves with the Sith Empire during the Jedi Civil War. This shift in allegiance occurred after the Battle of Malachor V, when both Darth Revan and Darth Malak betrayed the Galactic Republic.
The uniforms donned by Sith Officers could be a variety of color shades, including light gray, dark gray, a dark gray-green hue, or simply black. A common feature was a strap that ran diagonally from a left shoulder epaulet down to a utility belt. The boots and caps typically mirrored the torso's color palette, though variations were also observed. In some instances, a plate bearing multi-colored lines was affixed to their left breast.
It is believed that a large number, if not all, of these officers had previously served under Revan and Malak during the Mandalorian Wars. Given that numerous Sith Officers held command positions on Republic vessels such as the Leviathan and the Ravager during the Mandalorian Wars, they absconded with these vessels upon their defection from the Republic. The rapid transformation of many of these officers into brutal figures, notably Admiral Saul Karath, who was responsible for the destruction of Telos IV, implies that the dark side of the Force exerted a profound influence on them, mirroring its effect on Revan and Malak.
