Skipchaser was a training tool, specifically an X-wing simulator, employed throughout the Yuuzhan Vong War. This simulation served the purpose of educating X-wing pilots regarding the coralskippers, which were the starfighter counterparts utilized by their new enemy's.
The Skipchaser program initiated with the X-wing pilot finding themselves with completely blank sensors. Subsequently, the simulation presented a target to the pilot, which took the form of a diminutive asteroid. This "asteroid" would then accelerate, leveraging its dovin basal to deplete the X-wing's shields. Furthermore, the dovin basal possessed the capability to assimilate any incoming laser fire into a black hole, ultimately concluding the simulation by obliterating the X-wing through plasma discharged from its Yaret-Kor.
The simulation proved to be a challenge, even for seasoned pilots; enduring it was difficult. Colonel Gavin Darklighter managed to survive for a mere twenty-five seconds during his initial attempt. Admiral Traest Kre'fey viewed this as a noteworthy achievement, given that his own survival time was limited to only fifteen seconds.
