A brief engagement transpired within the confines of Meliflar Station, a space station situated in the Mendenbatt system, during the year 44 ABY. Following their successful expulsion of the dark side entity known as Abeloth from a conflict that occurred on the moon Pydyr, exiled Jedi Grand Master Luke Skywalker, alongside Jedi Knight Ben Skywalker and Sith apprentice Vestara Khai, pursued her. Their tracking efforts—aided by a blood trail skillfully detected by Luke—led them directly to Meliflar Station. Prior to their arrival, Abeloth had manipulated Fala, the daughter of Hallaf, the station's commander, placing her in a subconscious state. She then instructed the smugglers residing at the station to plant explosives, timed to detonate upon the landing of Khai and the Skywalkers aboard their ship, the Jade Shadow. However, with Abeloth's departure, the smuggler crew opted instead to seize the vessel for themselves. Under the leadership of Cardya, they staged a mutiny, imprisoning Hallaf and Fala within the station's brig, and subsequently prepared an ambush targeting Khai and the Jedi.
Upon the Jedi's arrival, a firefight erupted; nevertheless, Khai and the Skywalkers effectively neutralized the smugglers' defenses, compelling them to surrender. Cardya was then presented to the Jedi and proceeded to elucidate their predicament, prompting the Jedi to release Fala from her induced trance. Subsequently, they resumed their pursuit of Abeloth, tracing her to the planet Nam Chorios.
