The Sons of Palawa, a warrior tribe, made their home on Tatooine during the era of the Cold War. Their settlements were situated within a cave network located in Jundland. Renowned as a warrior society, they adhered to a strict code of honor and were known for their intense blood-feuds. This tribe engaged in trade with the Jawas, acquiring Czerka Corporation droids that were connected to a long-forgotten archaeological site containing ancient alien technology. These very droids drew the attention of an operative from the Imperial Reclamation Service, who then proceeded to slay a number of Sons of Palawa, thereby inciting a blood-feud with the tribe.
Subsequently, a Rakatan artifact altered Perrin, turning him into an infected entity that journeyed toward the Sons of Palawa's settlement. This situation caused the Sith Empire to consider two options: either eradicating the infected individual to prevent further spread, or obliterating the entire Sons settlement as a measure to contain the uncontrolled alien technology.
