Spencer Lee Wilding, a Welsh actor and stuntman born on July 26, 1972, is known for physically embodying Darth Vader alongside Daniel Naprous in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. He is also recognized for his portrayals of the werewolf form of Remus Lupin in the 2004 movie Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, the Ice Warrior Skaldak in the Doctor Who episode "Cold War," and the White Walker who menaces the Night's Watch in the Game of Thrones episode "Winter Is Coming" (a role he shared with fellow Star Wars actor Ian Whyte, while Bronson Webb, another Star Wars actor, portrays the sole survivor of that encounter).
To secure the role, Wilding participated in several auditions, and he was required to sign a confidentiality agreement. The initial three auditions involved self-recorded tapes, and he was unaware of the project's identity or the character he was being considered for. His last audition occurred at Pinewood Studios, where he had the chance to wear Vader's suit for the first time. Wilding shares the part with Daniel Naprous; Naprous performed the fight scene that concludes the film, while Wilding was responsible for all other scenes.
