Stabmen

Traditional styanax hunters of Tralus, known as Stabmen, were most often found on the Sea of Jarad. These hunters typically targeted styanax from wide-hulled canoes called nagaks, which were the traditional vessels used. A nagak required approximately a dozen rowers, along with two to four stabmen armed with harpoons. To maintain stealth, nagaks did not utilize repulsor or propeller engines, as the styanax, being both intelligent hunters and prey, possessed the ability to detect powered watercraft.

Following the successful harpooning of a styanax, the creature would become enraged, leading to an intense battle between it and the stabmen. A skilled crew could reel in the styanax over several minutes; however, a particularly strong styanax had the power to capsize a nagak.
