Star Wars: Attack Squadrons was a space combat game that was being created for online browsers by Disney Interactive and Area 52 Games. It was revealed initially through a teaser trailer on December 17, 2013, followed by a closed beta launch in January 2014. However, in May of 2014, after a five-month beta period, the decision was made to cancel the game to concentrate on creating other Star Wars games instead. Before its cancellation was officially announced, no specific release date had been given for the game.
Star Wars: Attack Squadrons was planned to provide matches for up to sixteen players across three different game modes, and would have allowed players to customize their ships. A number of different maps were planned, including one featuring the Death Star II above Endor. It was also verified during its development that the Unity Game Engine was to be utilized by the game.
