Star Wars: Datapad

Star Wars: Datapad**, taking its name from the in-universe datapad, is a mobile gaming experience integrated into the Play Disney Parks application. This game allows guests visiting Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge to engage with the various attractions and elements found within this themed area at both Disneyland and Disney's Hollywood Studios located in Walt Disney World. It is important to note that most of the functionalities are only available when the user is physically present within Black Spire Outpost. The initial launch of the game occurred on May 24th, 2019 as part of an update to the Disneyland section of the app, which was several days before Galaxy's Edge officially opened at that park on May 31st.

Datapad functionalities encompass activities like "hacking" (enabling interaction with door control panels or droids), "scanning" (used for inspecting cargo containers), "translation" (for deciphering the Aurebesh language present on signs throughout Galaxy's Edge), "tuning" (allowing users to intercept secret communications), and "Outpost Control" (a game where visitors align themselves with either the First Order or the Resistance). As players progress and explore, they unlock a range of items including outfits, equipment, star maps, schematics, droid information, transmissions, and various titles. Furthermore, users can accumulate credits by undertaking jobs and improve their standing with the First Order, Resistance, and "scoundrel" groups.

A separate variation of the Datapad application was subsequently launched for those staying at the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser immersive hotel experience, also accessible through Play Disney. Additionally, the Datapad interfaces with the MagicBand+ for the "Star Wars: Batuu Bounty Hunters" interactive quest, available exclusively at the Disney's Hollywood Studios iteration of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, where the scanner helps you locate your bounty.
