Star Wars: Droids Special represents a one-off publication within the Legends comic book line, specifically relating to the series Star Wars: Droids (1994). This issue compiles content that was initially presented serially in Dark Horse Comics (1992–1994), and it was released by Dark Horse Comics on January 31, 1995. The narrative unfolds before the events of the Star Wars: Droids miniseries, detailing the initial escapade of R2-D2 and C-3PO within the Kalarba system.
Artoo-Detoo and See-Threepio's introductory adventure unfolds at Hosk Station, located within the Kalarba system, where they encounter Olag Greck, an intergalactic criminal! This narrative, which was originally serialized in Dark Horse Comics, serves as a prelude to the events of the widely acclaimed six-issue Droids series, and is now compiled here for the very first time. The Droids Special includes previously unreleased preliminary artwork by Bill Hughes, along with a brand-new cover created by Kilian Plunkett. Of particular interest to fans is the fact that this story marks the debut appearance of the bounty hunter droid IG-88, and also introduces Olag Greck, Xob, and the Corellian pilot Jace Forno, to the Star Wars mythos!
