Publisher's summary

The Star Wars saga reaches a critical juncture…

The Republic, already weakened, is on the verge of collapse due to the relentless attacks of the Separatists throughout years of civil conflict. The Senate on Coruscant anxiously observes as Supreme Chancellor Palpatine increasingly curtails constitutional freedoms, claiming it's necessary to protect the Republic. Yoda, Mace Windu, and their fellow Jedi Masters are troubled by the Chancellor's unsettling decision to seize authority over the Jedi Council. Meanwhile, Anakin Skywalker, the prophesied Chosen One destined to bring balance to the Force, finds himself increasingly haunted by his fear that his secret love, Senator Padmé Amidala, is destined to die.

As warfare intensifies across the galaxy, the stage is set for a climactic showdown: Obi-Wan embarks on a treacherous mission to eliminate General Grievous, the formidable Separatist military commander. Palpatine, seeking to consolidate his power, manipulates public sentiment against the Jedi. A conflicted Anakin, tormented by disturbing visions, teeters on the edge of a decision that will reshape the galaxy. Darth Sidious, whose influence grows ever stronger, prepares to deliver the final, devastating blow to the Republic and to anoint a terrifying new Sith Lord: Darth Vader.
