The guide begins with the Prologue taken from the 2004 novel Republic Commando: Hard Contact, which serves as a tie-in to the video game Star Wars: Republic Commando. This prologue is presented from the viewpoint of Darman, a member of the Republic Commando Theta Squad, and recounts their initial and concluding mission to the planet Geonosis. The squad is quickly overwhelmed, and with the exception of Darman, all of its members perish. Following the prologue is a concise "How to use this guide" section, which outlines the guide's contents and the purpose of each section. The guide also features the short story The Tale of the Aiwha Pod, which is one page in length and was written by Ryan Kaufman.
Prima Games launched the game guide, authored by Michael Knight, on March 8, 2005 in a paperback format. The book's measurements were 8.3 x 0.3 x 10.7 inches, it comprised 128 pages, and weighed 8.8 ounces. Simon Olney and Derek Hocking were the designers, Mario De Govia served as the product manager, Christy Seifert was the editorial supervisor, and Rebecca Chastain handled the editing. The guide incorporated a variety of concept artwork, screenshots, and game models.
