The unveiling of The Monster of Temple Peak occurred during a livestream event on January 4, 2021, which celebrated the debut of the Star Wars: The High Republic project. Initially announced as a graphic novel, a preview featured on StarWars.com on April 15 indicated a change in format to a comic miniseries. Writer Cavan Scott has stated that the series will expose a critical moment from Ty Yorrick's past, the protagonist, tying into events allluded to in his audio play, Dooku: Jedi Lost.
